In my travels around the world, there is one thing that I hear over and over, “Water is life.” Granted, unclean water can lead to sickness and death, but the lack of water is even more detrimental. Â Not only does our body need water to live, but it is also instrumental for growing crops, keeping animals, cooking, bathing/hygiene, etc. Â Rain and a continuous source of water brings life to a community. Â Yesterday on my lunch break, as I listened to the torrential rain pounding on the roof of our office, Â I wanted to complain until I was reminded of its importance. Â I decided to be fix my mood, get creative and share this concept visually.
The creative process started on my iPad using the Paper by FiftyThree app. Â The overall concept started with water, so I wanted to create a watercolor look and feel for the image. Â That’s why I chose Paper- it has a great watercolor brush feature. Â Still unsure what the final would look like, I emailed the photo to myself and opened it in Photoshop to start playing around with text and enhance the drawing. Â I used free watercolor brushes in Photoshop to add a background that represents a colorful sky over water and treated the text to look like it was wet.
At this point I was about to call it done and post it to Instagram, but as I thought about the description, I realized that I wanted use photos of people who I met who benefitted from Operation Blessing clean water solutions. Â After all, they are some of the people who told me told me, “Water Is Life.” Â I started adding them into the drop of water and then went crazy adding additional photos of people, sky, and water to bring the image to life. Â Watch the video to see everything that went into the final image.
Please help me spread the message – Water Is Life.
